| April With Guitar |
April Pierce, one-half of Wick Trimmer, brings emotions, feelings, and life experience to the table when she plays her guitar. Taught to play by her Mother at the young age of nine, her influences include Cat Stevens, Stevie Nicks, and Jennifer Knapp. Her first gig was as a fourth-grader in a Lawton Oklahoma school program where she performed Blowin´ In The Wind by Bob Dylan. As a Junior High student April played with a folk group in school and at her church. At fifteen, she teamed up with her brother Monty, and the two of them played their first paying gig at a steakhouse/club. Soon after that, the guitar was put on the shelf. A few years later in 1979, April married her husband Jack. Thereafter, they had a little girl; they named her Joni. Unfortunately Joni was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a form of MD that would take her life at the age of four. Three years later the couple was blessed with another little angel, this daughter they named Ali. In the latter half of the 80´s April and Jack opened a couple of retail stores: Jack´s Treadmill Fitness Co. and Action Rags, an aerobic clothing store. They closed the stores in 1995 and that's when April picked up her old friend The Guitar again, after sixteen years. She hasn´t put it down since.
She began playing with Paramount Baptist Church´s Praise Team in ´97 which was such a great joy to her. In January of last year she teamed up with songwriter and guitarist Daryl Watson; together they formed Wick Trimmer. April and Daryl have collaborated on ten original songs, and have recorded one, it is called Something We Do. She fills us in that their songs are about life, the trials that are presented to us, the struggles and our source of hope which is only found in and through Christ." April assures us that more songs are in the works. One final question regards their name. "We´re called Wick Trimmer after the parable in the Bible found in Matthew 25. Meaning, are you ready and prepared for Christ´s return?" (For more on their name look under the heading "Origin of Wick Trimmer")
